Il BIE (Ufficio Internazionale delle Esposizioni) ha deciso: sarà Astana la città organizzatrice di Expo 2017

La votazione di Parigi ha visto la capitale kazaka superare la diretta concorrente Liegi. La manifestazione si intitolerà Future Energy e avrà luogo dal 10 giugno al 17 settembre 2017.

Il Kazakistan festeggia: sarà Astana la città organizzatrice della prossima esposizione internazionale (la “sorella minore” di quella universale). La votazione finale, avvenuta durante l’assemblea generale del Bie tenutasi a Parigi il 22 novembre, ha visto la capitale dello stato asiatico superare con 103 preferenze la diretta concorrente, la belga Liegi, rimasta ferma a quota 44. Un risultato che premia i quattro anni di sforzi diplomatici del comitato organizzatore e, soprattutto, la scelta di un tema forte come quello dell’energia.

La manifestazione, che si intitolerà Future Energy, avrà luogo dal 10 giugno al 17 settembre del 2017, su uno spazio espositivo di 25 ettari. Il programma presentato al Bureau Inernational des Expositions prevede la partecipazione di più di 100 paesi e di sei organizzazioni internazionali, con un pubblico potenziale di oltre cinque milioni di visitatori.

Kashagan: Glasnost kazaka da KMG

Debiti per 2,2 miliardi $, Ebitda negativo per 10 milioni $ per la quota in mano ad Astana. Il Capex a carico del consorzio aumenterà di 6,9 miliardi $. Ma le oil company temono ritardi nella partenza della fase 2.

Operazione trasparenza, con gli investitori e con gli analisti. Per la prima volta, la compagnia di Stato  kazaka KazMunaiGas ha reso pubblici nella sua investor presentation i dati finanziari
relativi alla sua partecipazione del 16,8% nel consorzio Ncoc (North Caspian Operating Company), che sviluppa il maxi giacimento di Kashagan. Per la quota, analoga a quella detenuta da Eni, Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell e Total, la compagnia kazaka ha inscritto a bilancio debiti per 2,2 miliardi di dollari, un ebitda rettificato negativo per 10 milioni di dollari e liquidità per 118 milioni di dollari. Una volta per tutte, mentre gli altri partner sono alle prese con l’impennata dei costi previsti per portare a regime la produzione a Kashagan, viene chiarito anche qual è l’unico aumento accettato dai kazaki: quello del capex a carico dell’intero consorzio, che è atteso in crescita di 6,9 miliardi di dollari.

Almaty Mayor’s son-in-law may buy ATF Bank

A son-in-law of Almaty Akim (Mayor) Galymzhan Yessenov is one of the potential buyers of ATF Bank that is going to be sold by UniCredit group, Kursiv writes citing its source. The provisional cost of the deal is not known yet.

Earlier Reuters, citing its sources, named Bulat Utemuratov of Kazakhstan one of the potential buyers of ATF Bank. He was the one who sold the bank to UniCredit for $2.117 billion in 2007.

Financial experts believe the UniCredit will sell this asset in the nearest years but at a much lower price than its market cost. This opinion has been voiced by a chief expert of the analytics department of BTA Securities Nadira Tabyldiyeva.

ATF Bank is one of the major Kazakhstan banks. It has 17 branches in different cities of the country. In 2011 the bank’s charter capital made 152.9 billion tenge ($1.02 billion).

Kazakh PM reviews Kashagan project implementation

Kazakh PM Serik Akhmetov has reviewed Kashagan project implementation within the visit to Kazakh Atyrau region, the Prime Minister’s press-service reported on Thursday.

“Today Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov is on a working visit to Atyrau region. He began his visit by a trip to the artificial island “D”, which is the infrastructure part of the Kashagan project and is located in the Caspian Sea, 85 km south-west of Atyrau,” the press-service said.

Serik Akhmetov has examined the equipment of operational and technical complex designed to produce 450,000 barrels of oil per day at the island and inspected the preparatory work for the oil and gas production at Kashagan.

Moreover, Prime Minister visited Agip KCO’s Bolashak plant which is under construction.

Kazakhstan interested in transporting oil via BTC

Kazakhstan is interested in transporting oil within the second development phase of the Kashagan field through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline,” Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy Natiq Aliyev said in a speech at the seventh General Assembly session of Asian political parties in Baku on Thursday.

He said the parties discussed this issue at the ninth session of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Astana in September.

Transportation of 23 million tons of Kazakh oil is planned at the initial stage within the Trans-Caspian oil transportation system and this figure will increase to 35 million tons and possibly up to 56 million tons in the future.

Kashagan is one of the largest fields discovered in the past 40 years. According to analysts, Kashagan has the potential to unite the top five largest oil companies in the world. Kazakh geologists estimate geological oil reserves at 4.8 billion tons. According to the project operator, total oil reserves are 38 billion barrels (six billion tons), with a recoverable volume of about 10 billion barrels. Natural gas reserves are estimated at over one trillion cubic meters.

The companies developing the project are planning to begin commercial production at Kashagan in the first quarter of 2013.

Kazakh president to discuss enhancing of cooperation in France

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay a working visit to France on Nov.21-23, official representative of the Central Communications Service of Kazakhstan, Altai Abibullayev said at a press briefing in Astana on Monday.

“President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay a working visit to France on Nov.21-23. During the visit the Kazakh leader will meet with French President Francois Hollande,” Abibullayev said.

He underlined that enhancing of cooperation between the two countries will be the topic of discussions. Nazarbayev will also meet with representatives of French business community.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Fiat: il Lingotto vuole produrre in Kazakhstan

Ministero Esteri kazako: Casa Torino potrebbe aprire linea assemblaggio.

La Fiat è interessata ad avviare la produzione in Kazakhstan. L’ha affermato, secondo quanto riferisce oggi l’agenzia di stampa Interfax, il ministero degli Esteri di Astana dopo una riunione tra l’ambasciatore kazako in Italia, Andrian Yelemmesov e rappresanti del Lingotto.

“Rappresentanti della casa automobilistica hanno espresso interesse nel contruire una linea d’assemblaggio della Fiat e lanciando servizi di post-produzione delle auto Fiat e dei veicoli industriali Iveco in Kazakistan”, ha detto il ministero.

Yelemmesov ha invitato i manager della Fiat a visitare il Kazakhstan per definire i dettagli pratici.

Kazakh-British forum starts in Atyrau

The third Kazakh-British oil and gas material and technical maintenance cooperation forum has started in Atyrau, the Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Ministry said today.

“Around 100 Kazakh companies, as well as representatives of the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, KazMunaiGas, Samruk-Kazyna Contract, Samruk-Kazyna Invest companies and other representatives of development institutions and industry associations plan to participate in the forum,” the ministry said. “Besides British Department of Trade and Investment, “Shell Kazakhstan”, “BG Kazakhstan” will also participate. The representatives of 35 large companies operating in the oil and gas sphere plan to arrive.”

Main objective of the forum is to assist in establishing long-term business relations between Kazakhstan and British companies in the oil and gas sector to increase the share of local content and create new opportunities for cooperation in this field.

Pavlodar petrochemical plant to receive one million tons of Russian oil by year end

One million tons of Russian oil will be delivered to the JSC Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (PPCP) before the end of the year, general director of the company Shukhrat Danbay told Trend.

“In October, the plant received 500,000 tons of Russian oil. Another 500,000 tons of raw materials from Russia will be delivered during each of the remaining months – November and December,” Danbay said.

He noted that the plan for processing amounted to five million tons this year. There have been no disruptions in the supply of raw materials from Russia since the autumn,” Danbay said.

The Pavlodar refinery was built in the 1970s, during the Soviet Union occupation and initially was technologically oriented on processing Russian crude oil from fields in Western Siberia.

Kazakhstan’s rankings increase

Kazakhstan has ranked ninth in the “Doing Business 2013” ratings, improving its position in the rankings by seven points, the Kazakh Economic Development and Trade Ministry said on Tuesday.

“In addition, this year Kazakhstan has entered the list of the countries that have shown significant improvements in facilitating business within last year,” the statement noted.

According to the “Registration of companies” indicator, Kazakhstan rose by 30 positions (from 55th to 25th place), which is due to simplifying the procedure of establishment and removal of a claim on payment of minimum capital within three months after registration.
